Kaya Burback
Visual Artist, Actor, and aspiring elementary art teacher
Bio: Kaya is a highschool senior, artist, actor, and aspiring elementary art teacher. In her free time, Kaya paints, draws, writes, develops art lessons, and acts. She has starred as Ophelia in Hamlet and Kaliope in She Kills Monsters. Kaya values making art that is comforting to her. Because of this, most of the art she makes involves fish. She feels a deep comfort in the peaceful life in the ocean and its serenity. Kaya is also comforted by the freedom of both impressionism and modernism. She is heavily inspired by artists like Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh.
Kaya is a creative and socialbe person. She is very passionate about educating the future generations- especially through the arts. She strongly believes in the statement "knowledge is power," and strives to help the youth learn to help make the world a better place. Kaya works in an after-school program with elementary children. She has developed many art therapy techniques whilst working there. She believes art can help people regulate their emotions in a very positive way.
Kaya is going to school next year at Century College to start her journey of becoming an art teacher. This year, she hopes to act in more plays and focus on the comfort of art rather then trying to be perfect. Kaya is delighted to be helping children change the world through art. She will try her best in striving to help educate children and teach them the power the arts has.

Prof. Insprio’s Creative Compass: Staying Rooted This Month
By Prof. Insprio
This month, your Creative Compass is pointing toward courage. Across Minnesota, artists are navigating funding cuts, limited space, burnout, and uncertainty about what’s next. It’s tempting to pause everything until there’s more clarity. But growth rarely happens in perfect conditions.
Building anyway doesn’t mean overworking. It means choosing progress over perfection. It means taking one strategic step forward instead of waiting for the full staircase to appear.
Here are a few ways to practice that this month:
1. Build something small and specific.
Instead of planning a full exhibition, host a studio open house for ten people.
2. Strengthen your infrastructure.
Update your portfolio. Clean up your website bio. Organize your mailing list. Reach out to three past collaborators.
3. Apply before you feel ready.
Look into grants, residencies, and professional development opportunities through organizations like Springboard for the Arts, which offers career consultations and funding resources for artists.
4. Build community equity.
Attend a show. Pay for a ticket. Share someone’s event. Volunteer at a local arts space. Organizations such as Pillsbury House+Theatre and COMPAS continue to create platforms for community-centered creative work across the state.
5. Don’t build alone.
Collaboration reduces burnout and multiplies impact. Platforms like MiracleArts exist to connect creatives.

Thank you for reading the March edition of the 1 Minute Miracle!
First, a big thank you to everyone who submitted an article. You can always reach us at [email protected] to share your work.!
Last month, we officially launched our Creative Resource Guide to the public. This free, searchable directory and interactive map connects you to art galleries, supply stores, nonprofits, studios, and creative spaces across Minnesota. This project is deeply personal to me. It was built with Minnesota creatives in mind to make finding opportunities, spaces, and collaborators easier and more accessible. I would truly love your feedback. Explore it, use it, and let me know what you think.
The MiracleArts team is also preparing for a busy (and exciting) spring. We’re gearing up for Art-A-Whirl, the St. Paul Art Crawl, and FlavorFest and we’re looking forward to showing up in a big way.
But we don’t want to stop there. If you have an upcoming community project or event, let us know how MiracleArts can support you.
Remember we C.R.E.A.T.E our own Miracles
