Prof. Insprio’s Creative Compass: Why Creatives Should Consider Higher Education

By Prof. Insprio

bzzt Future creatives, college is bigger than a degree. A lot of people think higher education is only about a piece of paper, but for creatives, it can become a launchpad. Places like University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, or Minnesota State University, Mankato creative department are full of people trying to build something just like you. bzzt But do not let Minneola limit you. You can travel the world and transform your work with it.

College gives creatives space to experiment before the real world starts charging for mistakes. You get access to studios, cameras, software, mentors, internships, and collaboration all in one place. One random class partner could become your future business partner or product. bzzt Networks create opportunities.

It also teaches discipline. Deadlines, presentations, teamwork, and criticism are part of the creative industry whether you like it or not. College can sharpen your communication skills and help you understand the business side of creativity bzzt Professionalism matters too.

And sometimes, college simply gives you time. Time to mature, discover your style, and build confidence while surrounded by resources. Not every creative needs college, but for many its a needed step bzzt

Thank you for reading the May edition of the 1 Minute Miracle!

First, a big thank you to everyone who submitted an article. You can always reach us at [email protected] to share your work.!

This past May has been an eventful one! With Art-A-Whirl happening, it was amazing to see the team prepare for the event without me for the first time. Yes, that’s right it was the first time the team tabled on their own! Maddie let me know everything went really well, and it even led to another tabling opportunity. Go team!

We’ve also made a lot of progress on our youth-led fashion show happening this August. We’re hoping to announce the team and a few featured designers in our next newsletter. We’ll also be hosting a few pop-ups at local stores this summer, so stay tuned!
